The Communion chalice is ready to return, but we need your help!
Parishes in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis have been given the go-ahead to bring back the chalice, but we need your help. We are in need of 30 new Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, in order to have enough people to distribute communion from the chalice at all our Masses here at Nativity.
If you are interested in signing up to help distributed Holy Communion, we encourage you to sign up below. Simply fill out your information, and check the box next to "Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion"
Don't worry! We'll show you everything you need to do...no experience is necessary! There will be a training coming up in early January for anyone new, interested in learning how to distribute communion.
Volunteers are needed to serve Nativity Catholic Church in various liturgical ministries at Sunday and Holy Day Masses. Volunteers will receive training specific to each ministry and will be able to request particular Masses and times when they are available to serve. Scheduling for most ministries is coordinated through an online scheduling software program.
See below for information specific to each of the liturgical ministries.
Volunteers will be contacted by the coordinator for each ministry to schedule training.

Girls and boys in the fifth grade are invited to begin server training. Fifth through eighth graders (attending either Nativity School, Religious Ed classes or home-schooled) are scheduled on a monthly basis.
New servers must attend one training session.
All servers and their parents must renew their commitment annually.
The Serra Club of Indianapolis presents certificates of appreciation to all eighth grade servers, and one is selected to receive a medal for extraordinary service as an altar server. A student's commitment as a server, especially during the summer months, is of utmost importance.

These Ministers must be confirmed Catholics. They receive training and are placed on a schedule which has them visiting parishioners on a four to five week rotation. Homebound Ministers choose this ministry because they enjoy the opportunity of bringing Communion to others and are happy to be a link for them to our parish community.
