The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an organization that leads men and women to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to- person service to those who are in need and suffering, in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frederick Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul.

Our Nativity SVDP conference team is for those in our parish who wish to work in this endeavor to support those in need, mainly within our parish geographical boundary, but also throughout our metropolitan city. We currently have a spiritual meeting and a business meeting once a month, currently both are happening on the 2nd Wednesday of the month (date and times maychange). Warehouse/Distribution Center (1201 E. Maryland St.)

• Sign up to be a distribution center sorter of clothing or household products or to be a dock helper. Find the times available and descriptions under the Distribution Center Volunteer column on this web page: I want to help – St. Vincent de Paul (svdpindy.org).

Mission 27 Resale Store (1201 E. Maryland St.; 2nd Store now open at 1618 S. Shelby St)

•  Come to shop as it’s more than a resale shop; It’s a beacon of hope that offers good things for good purpose. You can find everything you need and good things you’ve been wanting at incredible prices. You may even find a treasure or two. And, all proceeds go to help funding of the Food Pantry, the operations of the store, the Changing Lives Forever program and other SVDP initiatives.

• The Maryland Street store is also where our needy clients can go to pick out items they cannot afford; The Shelby Street store is our newer store and designed for the bargain hunter.

Food Pantry (3001 E. 30th St)

• Volunteer to help at the Food Pantry -see full volunteer brochure for the volunteer opportunities. Sign up to work either a weekday or a Saturday at the following link under the Food Pantry Volunteer column: I want to help – St. Vincent de Paul (svdpindy.org). Help is also needed for home deliveries on Wednesdays for those clients who cannot get out themselves. Contact Mary S. at (317) 924-5769 for details.

Home Visitors

• Join our team to visit and assess those families, generally within our boundaries, in need at their home to listen to their needs and help to provide hope, spiritual support, financial assistance and/or furnishings needed. Time requirement is 1-2 visits per month, each visit about 1 hour depending on the client and situation.

Changing Lives Forever Program

•  This program is designed to help those in generational and situational poverty an avenue to learn how to escape poverty's grasp. Volunteers for mentors, facilitators and other support roles are always needed. Nativity parishioners are encouraged to help with our St. Jude/Nativity program and you can contact Rosie Hickle ( rhickle4c@gmail.com; (317) 319-9580) for more on how to help that program. Contributions/Donations

• Contributions come from those of us more fortunate who care and consist of cash donations (conveniently available in our church envelope packet), clothing items for the drop box in our parish parking lot, used furniture and household items which can be scheduled for pick-ups through the Distribution Center pick-up line (317) 687-1006 (please use this when you are getting rid of gently used furniture, working appliances) and blankets and household items collected during our Blanket Sunday campaigns. Beggars for the Poor

• You can join this effort each Saturday as SVDP takes a truck to Roberts Park Methodist Church at 401 N. Delaware with meals to the Indianapolis homeless community. Twinning
